This restaurant is located in the heart of the old town of Altea. They say the terrace offers spectacular views, but it is closed in winter. The restaurant itself is beautiful and very cozy. All the food we had was delicious and priced more than reasonably. We saw octopus and squid at other tables, and they looked fantastic and were quite large. It's definitely worth it; we will return.

I didn’t discover L’Ariet de Altea by chance walking the old town, but from a YouTube video of someone I don’t know who simply said, “If you go up to the church, eat here.” I trusted that stranger on the internet and, after this visit, I’m genuinely glad I did. The restaurant is just a short walk from the beautiful church of Nuestra Señora del Consuelo, the iconic “cúpula del Mediterráneo”, so it’s a great option if you’re visiting the old town and want to sit down for a proper meal rather than just a quick snack. Inside, L’Ariet doesn’t try to sell itself with views or big windows overlooking the streets; once you step in, you’re in a cosy dining room that feels a bit like being invited to someone’s home rather than a touristy spot next to a landmark. We booked the same day by calling the number on Google, for 15:00, even though the schedule said they closed at 15:15, and at no point did we feel rushed – we finished calmly after 16:00 while there were still other tables enjoying their meal. That alone already said a lot about the way they understand hospitality. We were three people and decided to share their arroz passamaret meloso (with broad beans, squid and garlic), at 14.50 € per person, and it was genuinely tasty, with the kind of flavour that makes you slow down and talk less for a few minutes. One of us chose a salad as a main, and we completed the meal with a starter to share, two desserts and two coffees; drinks were two beers and a small bottle of water. Looking at the bill for the whole table, the overall quality‑to‑price ratio felt very fair for the area and the setting. It’s the kind of place where you leave thinking “next time I’m in Altea, I could easily come back here to try more rice dishes.” Service was another strong point. There was only one waitress looking after the dining room, but she managed the tables with a smile, good timing and a calm attitude that matched the cosy interior. Courses arrived at a comfortable rhythm, without long waits or feeling hurried, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. In a part of town that can be very busy and touristy, L’Ariet de Altea felt like a small, welcoming pause with honest food, kind service and prices that make sense for what you get. If you’re heading up to the church and wondering where to eat nearby, this is definitely a place worth trusting – just like that YouTube recommendation I happened to follow.

What a discovery! We were just passing through and found this pleasant, wonderful, and spectacular place. Everything was delicious, the service was great, and the atmosphere felt like home. My wife and I had a meal here, and everything was perfect. The girl was alone managing the entire dining room, but she handled it all very well, was very attentive, and offered advice if you had any questions.

A nice place, the only odd thing was that we reserved for 10:15 PM and they called us at 10:00 PM to say that the kitchen would close in 15 minutes... but then we ate calmly and without stress, the service was good, the food was good, and the atmosphere on the terrace was very pleasant.

Every time we are in Altea, we come to this place. We really enjoy the small terrace and the views whilst having a great paella. We recommend their special Passameret so it is a bit different to your standard “Senyoret”. They have new waiter staffing, so service was a bit slower last time and not as consistent. Still, worth it. Be careful if it is a very hot day and you’re at the terrace, it can get boiling!

Excellent venue. Lovely fresh food and knowledgeable friendly staff. Great choice of fresh seafood . Fabulous views over the countryside and has a nice breeze. A great find in Altea and just off the busy streets so romantic if you wish and peaceful. Great value too for the best quality foods. We will return soon thank you.

Love this place. The views from the terrace in the evening are beautiful. The food is excellent and the service is spot on. The paella is incredible. Great value for the quality of food.

Delicious paella cooked to perfection, good wine excellent dessert. Comfortable restaurant room with lovely view of Altea. Multilingual Super attentive staff that could easily compete for best waiter in Spain and win. Double thumbs up.
