What Data We Collect
TripSquick is designed to work without user accounts. We do not require registration, login, or any personal information to browse our content. When you visit TripSquick, we may collect:
- Usage data — pages visited, time spent, device type, browser, and screen resolution (via analytics)
- IP address — temporarily processed by Cloudflare for security and performance (CDN, DDoS protection)
- Favorites — saved locally in your browser's localStorage, never sent to our servers
- Language preference — stored locally to remember your selected language
We do not collect email addresses, names, passwords, or any personally identifiable information.
Third-Party Services
TripSquick uses the following third-party services that may process data:
- Cloudflare — CDN and security (processes IP addresses for DDoS protection and content delivery). Cloudflare Privacy Policy
- Google Maps / Street View — embedded maps and street-level imagery on entity detail pages. Google Privacy Policy
- YouTube — embedded video player (privacy-enhanced mode via youtube-nocookie.com, no cookies until you click play). YouTube Privacy Policy
- OpenStreetMap / OpenFreeMap — interactive maps for the Explore Map and trail pages. OpenStreetMap data is open and does not track users.
- Hetzner — server hosting and object storage (CDN images). Hetzner Privacy Policy
Cookies
TripSquick does not set any first-party cookies. Third-party services (Cloudflare, YouTube on play) may set their own cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
We use browser localStorage (not cookies) for:
- Theme preference (light/dark mode)
- Language selection
- Saved favorites list
Data Sources
The content on TripSquick (place descriptions, trail data, restaurant information) comes from open data sources including OpenStreetMap, Overpass API, Waymarked Trails, and Wikidata. Reviews and photos are sourced from Google Places API. AI-generated descriptions are created using OpenAI and do not contain personal data.
