BAR GRANADA ALTEA is situated at Carrer la Mar, 135 in Altea, Alicante, a location that may not boast extravagant decor but is cherished by locals for its authentic atmosphere and hearty offerings. This family-run establishment has been a staple in the community for decades, drawing in a steady stream of patrons who appreciate its unpretentious charm and quality food. The café serves a range of regional dishes, with a particular emphasis on homemade meals that reflect the heart of Spanish cuisine.
The menu features a variety of options, including a well-regarded daily menu that offers generous portions at reasonable prices. Diners often highlight the "tostada con tomate," which is served with thick, flavorful grated tomato and high-quality cheese. The olive oil used is organic, adding a touch of freshness to the dishes. Seafood options are frequently recommended, and the daily specials often include traditional "platos de cuchara," or spoon dishes, which are prepared with care and attention to flavor. While the café can get quite busy, the lively atmosphere contributes to its appeal, making it a popular spot for both locals and visitors.
While the café excels in many areas, some feedback suggests that not all dishes meet the same standard. For instance, certain items like the tortilla have been noted to vary in quality, with some served at room temperature. However, the free tapas that accompany drinks and the friendly service help maintain a welcoming environment. The café's location near key bus stops makes it a convenient choice for a quick meal or a leisurely drink while waiting for transportation. Whether stopping by for a coffee or enjoying a full meal, BAR GRANADA ALTEA embodies the essence of local dining in Altea.
Locals seem to love this place located next to the key bus stops. Nothing special about the decor. Functional would be a good description. We ordered tortilla and croquettas, along with a beer. The beer was great, cold and welcome. The croquettas were ok but ordinary uniform in size and obviously to us they were bulk processed frozen then fried. The tortilla was a disaster. Served room temperature must have been sitting around for a while was dry and unpleasant compared to others we have enjoyed. The pickled peppers olives and pickles served as a side was great. I would say, it's a nice place to sit and have a beer while waiting for the bus.

A very pleasant family-friendly place with good food. It's perfect for trying one of their combo dishes or their magnificent sandwiches. Every time we go to Altea, we stop by there to eat.

The best ham toast (cut with a knife), the lunchtime menu (spoon dishes made with a lot of love) is excellent in both quantity and flavor. We always come back, thanks to the family.

The homemade food is fantastic, and the service is excellent. Everything is really good. I come here occasionally, but without a doubt, it's one of the best places in Altea to eat. The daily menu is spectacular.

I first visited this place 30 years ago. It's a family-run business that serves delicious food, especially great fish, all at reasonable prices, and the staff is very friendly.

A cozy place where we were attended to right away. The service was excellent, and we chose the €10 menu. I highly recommend it—100%! We will definitely come back.

Excellent coffee, reasonably priced, “el bar de siempre” as they say in Spanish. The olive oil is organic, the grated tomato for the “tostada con tomate” is thick, red and tasty, and the cheese is strong and top-quality. The location is un prepossessing, but there is a reason this place is always humming.

Brilliant neighbourhood bar/restaurant. Fabulous home made food, Free tapas with drinks, sunset views towards mountains... And unbelievable prices. Love this place

Homemade food. Better ask for seafood than meat. Very loud. Only one server for the tables, so make sure you have time to spend there. For dinner, it is better to have tapas, but the lunch menu is affordable, the only problem is that they always have the same options for second dish and if you're not eating early they may run out of options.
