Mercat Municipal d'ALTEA, located at Avinguda Rei en Jaume I, 4, 03590 Altea, Alicante, is a vibrant marketplace that showcases the region's finest produce. This compact market is well-stocked with a variety of high-quality goods, including fresh fish, meats, and an impressive selection of fruits and vegetables sourced from local producers. The layout is inviting, making it easy to navigate through the stalls, each brimming with colorful displays that appeal to both the eye and the palate.
The fish stalls are particularly noteworthy, offering an array of seafood that includes local specialties. Many visitors appreciate the quality of the fish and meat available, often highlighting the excellent cuts and the variety of cured hams and sausages. Alongside these, there are also fresh pasta options and a florist, adding to the market's charm. A small café area provides a convenient spot to enjoy a drink or snack, allowing shoppers to take a break and soak in the atmosphere. However, some stalls may have limited hours, particularly in the winter months, which can lead to a quieter experience at times.
While the market is generally well-received, there are occasional reports of inconsistent service at the café, especially during midday hours. Additionally, parking can be a challenge due to ongoing street works nearby, so it's advisable to plan accordingly. Overall, Mercat Municipal d'ALTEA stands out as a traditional shopping destination, where the emphasis on quality and local produce creates a unique experience for those looking to explore the culinary offerings of Altea.
A small municipal market, but well-stocked, with a fishmonger and a butcher offering top-quality goods.

Gr8 fish stall as well as meat and cheese one close to the exit. Other merchants closed in winter or...don't know when open. Disappointed by bar at the entrance, maybe comes to life at night but 1pm there seemed to be nothing available in a week day. Free Parking nearby but currently not available for works at the street leading to it

Top quality cuts of meat & cured hams & sausages etc , plus a great selection of fresh fish , & shellfish etc & fruit & vegetables from local producers all under one roof ! . A feast for the eyes here as well as the table ! As this is the best produce & presented @ it's best to tempt the buyer . The market also has a small café area & it's a good opportunity to take a drink or snack , post or prior to your shopping trip . A totally different shopping experience that I'm sure you'll enjoy if you should visit . As before mentioned the quality of food items sold here are of the highest quality & you really will be bringing the best to your table should you purchase here ! . A must place visit for those who appreciate a more traditional shopping experience & high quality foods . I'm sure should you visit you will enjoy mercat municipal & maybe take your shopping list ! It really is something special ! Can only recommend .

Croisant and fresh tuna pie for 4.5€ was great for me and kid. But my partner paid 8€ for two slices of simple supermarket bread with cheese&ham. No prices written. Be careful.

It's a small municipal market, but it offers high-quality products. Excellent fishmongers, a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, fresh pasta, a florist, and fantastic butcher shops. The friendliness of the staff at the market bar and their attentive service are worth mentioning. Congratulations, everyone! 👌🏻👍

Great local market. I went to the comestibles store and ordered some sliced products to try. Had some Oysters from seafood shop. They opened them for me and sat and ate at the cafeteris and enjoyed a nice cold beer. Lots of friendly helpful people.

The central market in Altea is a must-visit spot. Here you can find the best local products, fish, meat, vegetables, frozen goods, olives, bakery items, flowers... and much more. It's the perfect place to eat like in the old days. Very calm and traditional.

Good market place but we went for the fish. Got ripped off by the fish stall right at the back right wall. I was distracted by my son and didn't even realised how much I was paying and handed over the money. Be more aware than I was and check the price per kilo, I should have!
