The rooms are very nice. At least the one assigned to us seemed to have been recently renovated. The bed was comfortable, and the balcony with a sea view was definitely the highlight. The facade of the building, on the other hand, looks like it came from a war-torn area; furthermore, the property is shared with apartments, and it's not entirely clear which part belongs to the hostel and which are private residences. Its location is neither central nor close to Altea, but that's precisely why it offers a tranquility that deserves to be highlighted.

We were very disappointed with the service we received. We had a reservation to spend the weekend at Hostal Trovador. This Friday, on our way there, our car broke down on the highway. We had to return to Valencia by tow truck and taxi, which was completely justified and out of our control. We immediately called the hostal to inform them of the situation. A guy answered and told us he couldn't provide any answers because the owner wasn't available and that we should call back the next day. We called several more times over the weekend, and the receptionist mentioned that she had left a note for the owner to call us. Ultimately, after not receiving a single call from the owner, we called again and were simply told that "there's no option for a refund or date change." We understand that cancellation policies exist, but given the exceptional and justified nature of our situation, we expected at least a minimum of empathy, alternatives, or more direct attention from the owner. We have nothing to say about the reception staff. Not only have we lost all our money, but the owner has completely ignored us. For our part, we will not return nor recommend this place to anyone we know. A total disappointment.

This has been a wonderful place to relax, with customer parking available and conveniently located for exploring Altea. There are supermarkets nearby, a pharmacy, and more... Thank you for your kindness.

I've never been a big fan of hostels, but I have to say this one exceeded my expectations. The reception staff were incredibly friendly, the room was spacious and clean, and the bathroom was large and well-lit. The hostel's location is fantastic, and having parking available is another great reason to recommend this place. If I had to nitpick, it would have been perfect if the room had a small fridge; that would have made it a solid ten out of ten! 😊

Upon arrival, you think, what is this? The building is old and very run down, but when you enter the hostel, surprise!! The rooms are clean, spacious, with fairly large bathrooms, and a wide terrace with side views of the sea, in an unbeatable location. Just a step away from the beach and about 20 minutes from the center, which can be reached on foot or by tram (there's a stop very close). If I were to make a suggestion, I would add a small fridge in the room (it's very hot and drinks warm up quickly). The reception staff is very friendly, as is the cleaning staff. The restaurant next door is quite good, and the staff is very nice. We had a paella, served by the owner, a very friendly man!! The beach at Cap Negre is a wonder, it's a pebble beach, calm and not crowded, perfect for relaxing, just like the hostel. We will definitely come back!!

we stayed there 2 nights and would have stayed 1 week longer but due to permanent internet problems we were forced to change the hotel. the guy at the reception blamed it on us - not very helpful as a) it kind of was working with the same settings for 24 hours and b) we are working in the computer industry so we are able to identifiy dodgy and lame internet. so overall an ok 3 star with no plan for a return.

We did not stay here but ate in the restaurant at lunch times. Excellent food, drinks and service. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. All very reasonably priced. Would revisit when next in Altea. Definitely recommend

We didn’t stay in the hostel but ate in the restaurant a number of times. The food is excellent and very good value for money, the steaks and fish are of a particularly high standard. The staff are lovely and cannot do enough for you. I would highly recommend this eatery, a hidden gem.

Wonderful place! A comfortable, spotless room with a nice sized balcony. The breakfast is great value for money. Just €2.50 for toast, coffee and freshly sqeezed orange juice. Besides it's got a great position right on the beach. For what we paid, we couldn't ask for more.
