A bodega located in the heart of the pedestrian zone, operating since 1939. The place has its charm. Homemade tapas typical of Cartagena, with generous portions at even better prices. Everything was delicious. We had breakfast, noting the size of their half toasts (a 20 cm slice of country bread) and dined there, ordering the small portions that are still a good size. The staff is friendly, and you can trust their recommendations. There are tables inside and on the covered terrace overlooking a back square.

This was a hidden gem for us. We’ve been to Cartagena a few times. We were looking for something different. Bodega Nicholas is so understated with no tables at the front - the tourist walk way - and a traditional bar counter with freshly made tapas trays in a narrow shop and through to a bier garden style area at the back. Customers were discerning locals. The choice of tapas was wide. There were 38 on the menu with 12 montaditos, 19 bocadillos and 10 tostas. With 5 postres. Simple uncomplicated food. We had 8 dishes with bread and drinks and ate/drank the lot. Our dishes were mostly pequeñas (small) but good helpings. The other option was grande with only a slight increase in price - 20-25%. The ensalada Nicholas was delicious with fine slices of salmon which gave a gentle delicacy to the overall flavour of the dish. We loved this place and will be back. Maybe to start with a dry sherry from the wall mounted barrels next time.

The blood sausage with onions, rich and powerful, sprinkled with pine nuts, is a bite that reconnects you with your roots. And the cod with onions, juicy and tender, topped with caramelized onions, embodies pure tradition in every forkful. The menu is extensive, filled with classic Murcian tapas: michirones, tripe, broad beans with ham and blood sausage, squid with tomato... All at honest prices that encourage you to come back for more. Additionally, the variety of montaditos and sandwiches ensures there's always something new to try. A must-visit if you're in Cartagena and want to eat well, without any frills, but with plenty of flavor.

Excellent value for money, but the service is frustratingly slow. It's annoying to wait almost an hour to be seated and have your order taken, while seeing how they attend to someone who arrived after you. The waitress is overwhelmed in the back terrace, as she is alone to serve ten tables. The food is all delicious (except for the croquettes, which are reheated, not freshly made), the portions are generous, and the prices are very affordable. The marinera is super tasty.

Very traditional place. The food was nice and not expensive at all. I had a feeling that that was a very local place and I was the only tourist there, luckily I speak Spanish! If you are looking for traditional Spanish food I do recommend
