About this water

Everyone in Florida bass fishing just calls it "the Big O." Lake Okeechobee sits almost dead center in south Florida, covering roughly 340,000 acres of shallow, grass-choked water, with over 320 miles of winding shoreline. You genuinely cannot see across it from the bank. It's built its reputation on largemouth bass, and that reputation is earned, but it's also a big, exposed, sometimes hazardous piece of water that deserves a little homework before you launch. samokatya.livejournal.com samokatya.livejournal.com samokatya.livejournal.com What You Can Catch The official freshwater species range list for the counties bordering the lak

Everything known about one lake

What this screen does

This is the page the whole company exists to produce. It opens with the water itself: a depth chart drawn from real survey readings, with every boat ramp and monitoring station marked on it. Under that come the numbers an angler actually uses — how big, how deep, how much shoreline, which fish are on record, how many ramps and whether the gates are locked. Then the part nobody else has: a description written by our editors from those numbers, explaining where the fish hold and which ramp to use with a big boat.

The data behind it

Nothing here is typed by hand. The shoreline is USGS hydrography, the depths are NOAA soundings and state bathymetry, the water tests come from the EPA and USGS portal, the stocking records from the state wildlife agency, the ramps and campgrounds from federal and state recreation data. Every figure on the page names its source, and the depth chart says which survey it came from. If a lake has never been surveyed, the page says so rather than guessing.
