Fish

Every species we draw, with how many of our waters hold it and a twelve-month feeding strip shifted for the latitude of the person reading it. The list opens on 'biting now', because that is the question anyone has in September.

The line at the top

The month and the place, and how many species are at their peak in it right now. It opens the assistant, because the next question is always which of them is closest.

What the list is

Every species recorded in our waters, ordered by how active it is this month. A fish with no water behind it is not shown — from such a card there is nowhere to go.

The twelve-month strip

Each row carries the whole year: how strongly this fish feeds in each month, with the current month ringed. The scale is fixed, so a slow fish looks slow instead of being stretched to fill the row.

Grouping

Peak, good and off-season are separated by a coloured rule instead of being mixed into one list sorted by a number.

Filters and search

Biting now, game fish, or all of them; search understands both the common and the scientific name.
