A charming lighthouse, small yet full of character: the Christmas Lighthouse in Cartagena stands tall on the breakwater of the port, serving as a red and white guardian of the maritime entrance. Standing at just 11 to 15 meters high, it emits a sparkling red light every few seconds and has a range of about 10 nautical miles. Its purpose is both practical and aesthetic: to mark the entrance to the port and enhance the beauty of the coastal landscape. Getting there by car is easy, although the road may require a bit of patience, and the surroundings invite you to take a stroll: from the breakwater, the shipyards, the sea breeze, to the views of the port.

This is a great place for walking or running routes starting from Cartagena. It's also fantastic for fishing enthusiasts, as there are usually people around almost all day long, which is understandable given how beautiful the location is.

The Faro de Navidad, a discreet lighthouse, humble, for that exceptional entry from Our Sea to Cartagena and vice versa. Beautiful location, visited the night before World Lighthouse Day. And here I add a poem dedicated almost twenty months ago... "Lighthouses, being all of them, guides and homes, become admired monuments and, at best, maintain their service as signals for sailors, being pilots themselves and thus, givers of life. But time does not take its toll on them; on the contrary: it beautifies and strengthens them, ennobling their beautiful function as orienters. From the supposedly external weakness, which is surely assumed too often, the lighthouse exhibits its robustness, always showing the guiding light, welcoming for feelings and behaviors. And sometimes the lighthouse may weep, but its fixation near or above the sea grants it the joy that the tears, if there are any, sink into the immeasurable drops out there in the sea and are lost without leaving traces. The sea, indeed, is for the lighthouse its beginning and at the same time, its destination, and so it is for those salty drops, which although necessary, must be just enough to relieve the sorrow of the soul, no more and no less. Moving on to the gift of the smile of support and the seductive shine, always in the lanterns of its eyes, the lighthouse reduces the oceanic maritime uncertainty to calm limits, soothing sailors who approach it or merely glimpse its beam of light.

To be honest, the lighthouse itself isn’t much to see. But the area offers a great view of the harbor and nearby forts. You can sit and relax in the surroundings, but keep in mind that everything is concrete, which gets very hot in the sun, and there’s no shade at all – so it's best to visit in the morning or late afternoon. Access is on foot from a nearby restaurant where you can park, although parking is limited. If full, you might have to park around the corner near the road.

A place to view a large part of the bay of Cartagena, featuring a beautiful lighthouse. The clear water of the sea maintains a radiant blue color that, under the sun's reflections, looks like it was taken from a postcard. Access by road or by tourist boat.

A nice place to walk around and view the ocean. The road is not the best but definitely okay to drive.

The lighthouse itself is just a lighthouse, but what makes this place great is everything around it. There's a recreational area for fishing, trees, seating, a restaurant, and a marina where people take their little boats out. Plus, being right at the entrance of the harbor, you can see many boats passing by. There are areas to relax and good access by car. I wouldn't recommend going on foot.
