The visit starts at the museum, which has many pieces and information, and continues with a tour of the archaeological remains of the forum. There is a combined ticket to visit the theater, the house of fortune, and the Punic wall, which is a bit cheaper.

It was my first time visiting, and I had no idea what was there. It is still in the process of excavation, and there are few remains, but one can imagine what the place was like in ancient times. Remnants of paintings, floors, the area that corresponded to the baths... I believe the visit can be done with a tablet that shows the place in virtual reality, but we didn't do it that way.

At the outset, it is recommended to book a guided tour in advance (via the website https://puertodeculturas.cartagena.es/listado_actividades.asp in the "visit" section). The guide we had was excellent, with a calm voice and clear explanations, thank you very much. And yes, this museum is of the highest interest, offering you a very educational perspective on the origins of Cartagena and its development as a city, as well as the works carried out to showcase its rich heritage, which is definitely worth knowing and visiting. The tour pleasantly lasted 80 minutes, and despite the heat, it was bearable, and then extended by another 20 minutes as we went down to visit its "covered" section. It is a must-visit museum when coming to Cartagena and continuing to rediscover time.

Excellent . The way they have developed the site allows visitors to actually walk through the excavations. Fascinating to still be able to see paint on the walls of buildings etc. The museum also houses some nice finds like the frescoes. Seeing 2000 year old sewers is pretty cool too

Great museum and archeological excavations with translations in Spanish and English. Be sure to visit Molinete Archeological Park which is directly above the forum and museum (free). It's not a hard walk at all, and you have great views and get a history of the hill. We walked through Molinete Archeological Park before entering the museum and touring the archeological excavations. If you are not doing a guided tour, highly recommend purchasing the 4, 5 or all inclusive pass/voucher that will get you into multiple or all attractions, as it makes it less complicated to visit the major attractions. The Cartagena multi passes are found on the Puerto de Culturas website. With the multi attraction/voucher pass, the Roman Theater and Museum only come together, and count as 2 attractions. As a history buff, I definitely could have spent more time here reading about and studying all of the artifacts/excavations, but had to stay on a steady pace in order to see everything that we wanted to see in a day We were able to visit Conception Castle, Roman Forum and its museum, the Roman Theater and its museum, and do a little shopping before getting back to the ship with time to spare.

Astonishing view of Roman life. For €7 you can enter, although we bought tickets for all Roman attractions for only €5.30. Amazing collection with clear translation and perfect examples. Highly recommended!
