A neoclassical church located on one of Cartagena's main avenues, dedicated to the Virgin of Carmen, patron saint of sailors. Its simple white facade contrasts with the interior, which features a main altarpiece and an image of the Virgin, highly venerated by the city's residents. It is a popular stopover and the focal point of processions in the Carmen neighborhood. Admission is free and the church is usually open most of the day. Interestingly, every July 16th, a massive maritime procession is held in honor of the Virgin, one of Cartagena's most popular and moving traditions.

I have a deep devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, which is why I get goosebumps every time I enter this church. I'm so glad it's open during the day, so people can visit and spend a little time inside, breathing in the peace.

This Baroque-style Catholic temple was built in the 17th century as the church of the now-defunct Convent of San Joaquín. During the Civil War, it suffered significant damage, especially inside, where all the artworks were lost. It features a Latin cross layout with a single nave, side chapels, and a transept covered by a dome with a wavy cornice. At the foot of the nave is the choir, and beneath it, the narthex covered with vaults that rest on an arcade of five openings leading to the atrium. Its main façade stands out, composed of two sections with a pediment interrupted by the bell tower.

It was built in 1710 for the Discalced Carmelites. During the Spanish Civil War, all the artworks inside were lost. However, its façade and architecture are among the few examples of Baroque art still found in the Murcia region. Strolling through the streets of Cartagena is quite pleasant.

It's located on the main street of the same name, Calle el Carmen, and it's quite striking. It's currently used for Catholic worship. The church is very beautiful, and the car in its arcades is particularly noteworthy. It's also the church of the Virgin Mary venerated by Cartagena and its connection to the sea. Carmen Conde was baptized in this church.
