Well worth a visit to this historical city. There's plenty to see & do . You can do your own thin g or take a guided tour. There are lots of restaurants & bars to suit all levels of income. People appeared polite & helpfull. I'm glad we added it to our tour.

While Cartagena is known for its military presence and currently serves as the headquarters for, among others, the Almirantazgo de Acción Marítima, the Spanish Navy's Submarine Base, mine countermeasure and mine sweeping vessels, the Tercio de Levante Marine Infantry, and the Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment, its beaches and the attractions they generate for tourism are also well-known. The predominant sector in Cartagena's industry is energy companies. The Escombreras valley houses several energy production and transformation companies, such as Repsol, Enagás, and Iberdrola. In 2012, the expansion of the Escombreras refinery took place, marking the largest industrial investment in Spain's history.

A beautiful historic center and harbor. Full of life, with shops, bars, and restaurants. A lot of people around. Some very beautiful buildings. Everything is well-maintained and clean. Filled with monuments and Roman ruins.

Cartagena is quite an impressive historical town which seems to be quite secretive about their architectural treasures. There is a Roman road from the 1st century there, unbelievable.

We traveled from Madrid to Mazarrón, and one day we went to explore Cartagena. Since it was Holy Week, it was impossible to enter the center on our first attempt, and later, when it was already late, we managed to park in a terrifying parking lot on the fifth underground level. At least we were able to see a procession, which I found to be very ostentatious and eye-catching. We couldn't see much more—just a few streets, buildings on the main street, and the port, which I thought was beautiful and modern. I can't evaluate the city based on the little I saw.

Enjoy its magnificent Roman monuments, the lively commercial center, the striking neo-classical buildings, the ultra-modern port, the rich gastronomy, and the excursions by tourist bus and boat along the bay.

I loved it. This is our second visit. The first time we didn't enjoy it because it rained. This time, we were able to see the city much better. Everything was beautiful.
