I just visited the renovated casino in Cartagena, which has now been transformed into a cocktail bar, and I loved it. The atmosphere is both elegant and inviting, making it perfect for enjoying a good conversation while sampling creative and well-crafted cocktails. The service was attentive and professional, and you can really see the care that went into every detail of the renovation. Without a doubt, it's a place I would return to and recommend.

Opened in 1861, this elegant building showcases an eclectic style and is located on Calle Mayor, the heart of the city. Originally designed as a social club for the Cartagena bourgeoisie, it features salons adorned with plasterwork, chandeliers, and period furniture. The highlight is its ballroom with painted ceilings and a glass-roofed central courtyard, blending modernist and classical influences. Today, it hosts cultural and social events, and while it's not always open to the public, you can visit on Saturdays by paying for a two-hour guided tour, which includes all the salons, including the wonderful library it houses.

INDIAN HOUSES AND PALACES. CARTAGENA. MURCIA. The Indianos were people who traveled to Cuba and America, made fortunes, and returned to Spain with their servants, building ostentatious houses and palaces. Between the 19th and 20th centuries, there was an explosion of Indian architecture with modernism, characterized by vibrant colors and uniformity of facades featuring bay windows and balconies, as well as the decoration of their tiles and mythological figures. Many of these constructions were created by the architect Víctor Beltrí, who represented the highest expression of modernism.

After paying a visit to the beautiful casino in Murcia, we saw on Google maps casino in Cartagena and wanted to see it as well. The building on the main shopping street was inviting with large posters explaining opening hours etc and only a small paper in the least visible place was saying it is member-only. Of course, amongst all these posters we didn’t notice that small paper, entered and were literally kicked out 😁 Gents, if you are not capable to properly arrange information, at least have some better manners or do some less qualified job because you definitely don’t manage it well now.

Great building, you can listen to the audio guide in English, Spanish, French and Italian if you just scan the code when you buy the ticket. The entrance fee is 5 euro, but definitely worth it. The casino itself is not big, but you would need around 45 minutes to properly see all the rooms. There is also a beautiful restaurant/Cafe inside. Worth a visit!.

We did a guided tour. It is such an interesting building. The tour was with in Spanish but the guide ensured we were included and provided asise in English to help us.
