The strange thing about this era is that tradition is devoid of meaning. The participants in the processions aren't even believers, much less practicing ones; it's just a fad passed down from parents to children, like medical practices were once inherited, and without any religious significance. In fact, children are enrolled in these kinds of rituals almost from birth. What a shame for religion, symbolism, and rituals. If they were at least believers, they would at least be respectable, even if their beliefs were debatable.

Holy Week in Cartagena is sacred, and that's no exaggeration. During this time, it's experienced with a very special devotion, and that's why it's only natural that they've built this monument in honor of the procession participants. Thanks to them, the processions in this city are admired and highly valued in Spain and throughout the world.

MONUMENT TO THE PROCESSIONIST. PLAZA SANTA SEBASTIÁN. CARTAGENA. MURCIÁ. 1983. A life-sized work featuring an adult and two children dressed as Nazarenos who distribute candies during the Holy Week procession. A sculpture standing 2.5 meters tall, adorned with the coat of arms of Cartagena and an inscription. This piece is located on a pedestrian street and was created by the artist Manuel Ardil Pagán. There is access for individuals with disabilities.
