This beautiful Monastery of Santa Faz is highly revered in Alicante. It is located in the municipality of Alicante, adjacent to the village of San Juan and near the beach of the same name. The monastery was built between the 16th and 18th centuries. The furnishings of the church were heavily damaged during the civil war, but after restoration, it looks spectacular. The main altar is neo-baroque. The chapel of Santa Faz, where the relic is kept and venerated, was completed in 1680 and contains very interesting paintings and structures. A true work of art, filled with history and devotion. It's advisable to visit during the festivities, on the first Thursday after Easter. There, you can enjoy the Fair with its traditional sweets. The Camarín del Lienzo de la Santa Faz is open for visits year-round and is worth it. In the same temple, there are also historical mementos from Juan Sebastián Elcano to the various floods and the Civil War.

We were in awe. We were alone. The chapel where the holy relic is small yet elegant. It is one of three veils of the face of Jesus recognized by the Holy See. A beautiful small church. Read the history on the churches website. Well worth the trip.

The most beautiful church in Alicante ! Its opened for all people,dont matter which religion you have,if protestantic or evengelistic...in the past times all went here for to pray,its very old,from the 1500 a.d. and very impressing and looks still fine ! Inside they made it looking beautiful,not filled with gold as others,more rural and the people are friendly ! I recommend it to all people who want to visit a church,for any reason,if its as a tourist or for to refresh your soul ! I felt really more calm after,it gave me something that cant be described with words .
